Mine Hill Township is a residential community located in Morris County, NJ. Rich in iron ore deposits, the community began as a mining town in the 1700s. Today, there are no active mines in the Township as the last mine was closed in the 1960s. The community has a total area of 3 square miles and has approximately 1,400 housing units. Mine Hill has an excellent K-6 school system. The Canfield Avenue School is a Blue Ribbon School and has been declared a National School of Excellence. However, students in grades 7-12 attend the Dover School System. The community has a mixture of housing units. Harvest Run, a neighborhood of colonial homes, was built in the 1990s. Mine Hill residents have a Dover (07803) mailing address.
Residents can quickly access Interstate 80, U.S. Route 46, or NJ Route 10 for their eastbound commute. Dover, which is located a few miles to the east, has a train station and bus service to NYC.
